Since 2018, Mr. Powers has managed LL Funds’ legal and corporate governance functions and has provided legal support to the firm’s portfolio companies through his sole member law firm, Cogent Legal Services, LLC. Mr. Powers advises LL Funds and its portfolio companies in the evaluation, structure, negotiation and execution of a wide variety of complex investment, corporate and commercial transactions, as well as regulatory and securities laws compliance matters. Mr. Powers started his career in the business department at Dechert LLP in its M&A and corporate and securities practice groups. After Dechert, Mr. Powers spent 12 years at Actua Corporation, where he became a Managing Director and Assistant General Counsel and co-managed the company’s legal department. Mr. Powers holds a BS in Economics, summa cum laude, from Fordham University and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University, where he was an editor of the Temple Law Review.
